Bristol Job Vacancies - Curriculum Vitae

There are several different layouts available for CVs depending on various factors such as the type of job in Bristol you are hunting for, your experience in that particular field, or if you are just starting out and on the road to employment. The main point to remember is to keep your CV concise and easy to read. Your CV is the sales tool with which you are relying on to achieve an interview. Some candidates produce a professional video of themselves to include with their CV as this gives the prospective employer a more in depth picture of themselves including personality and also shows initiative; after all you are marketing yourself and your skills and only those with the best CVs will make it to the interview.

Some of the different types of CV to find new careers or just change employers in an existing career are:

The Chronological CV is often used when planning a change of job but staying in the same field. This is a more common type of CV which shows your career history in reverse chronological order. This CV clearly shows the dates and job titles plus the names of your employers.

The Functional CV is a format used when the applicant has had several positions or is looking for a career change as it focuses on achievements and skills placing less emphasis on job titles and employers. The only disadvantage with this type of CV is if you worked for a well known company it may not be immediately noticeable.

The Targeted CV which places more emphasis on the experience and skills acquired and the relevance to the job you are applying for. This particular CV can be adjusted and targeted for completely different jobs especially if you fancy a complete career change. This CV will focus on achievements attained and skills learned throughout your career.

Research the company you are applying to and adapt your CV to focus your strengths with their goals. Certainly it is highly beneficial to have a good knowledge of the company and some idea of where you would like to fit into their structure in order to be prepared for any questions at the interview.

Make sure the details you put in your CV are accurate since some of the larger employers will check and if you have been less than accurate about dates, length of employment or salary and this is discovered after you have stated your employment it could have a detrimental effect on your future career and even lead to the sack.

Good hunting for that Job Vacancy in Bristol.
